Policy on Publications by the Editor-in-Chief and Members of the Editorial Board

The journal Socialization and Human Development ensures the transparency and impartiality of the editorial process in cases where the authors of submitted manuscripts are the Editor-in-Chief, members of the editorial board, or other individuals involved in the editorial management of the journal.

With the aim of preventing conflicts of interest and ensuring the objectivity of editorial decisions, a special procedure is applied for the review of such manuscripts.

Manuscript Review Procedure

In cases where a manuscript is submitted by the Editor-in-Chief or a member of the editorial board, the following rules apply:

  • The author who is a member of the editorial board does not participate in any stage of the editorial review of their own manuscript.
  • The manuscript is assigned to an independent handling editor who has no conflict of interest with the authors.
  • The independent editor organises the peer review process in accordance with the standard procedure of the journal.

Independent Peer Review

Manuscripts authored by the Editor-in-Chief or members of the editorial board are subject to the standard double-blind peer review (double-blind peer review) process.

For such manuscripts:

  • independent reviewers with no affiliation to the authors are appointed;
  • the confidentiality of the peer review process is ensured;
  • the decision is made exclusively on the basis of the scholarly quality of the work.

Adoption of the Editorial Decision

The final decision regarding publication is made by the independent editor on the basis of the reviewers’ recommendations.

The Editor-in-Chief or member of the editorial board who is the author of the manuscript has no access to information pertaining to the peer review process and does not influence the editorial decision.

Transparency

In the event that a work authored by a member of the editorial board or the Editor-in-Chief is accepted for publication, information regarding the application of the independent review procedure may be indicated within the article.

This contributes to ensuring the transparency of editorial policy and adherence to the principles of academic integrity in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
