Publication ethics
The editorial policy of the journal Socialization and Human Development is founded on the principles of academic integrity, transparency of editorial processes, and adherence to international standards of publication ethics.
The journal is guided by the recommendations and best practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including the provisions of the COPE Core Practices.
The editorial board, authors, and reviewers are obligated to observe ethical standards at all stages of the preparation, submission, peer review, and publication of scholarly materials.
Responsibilities of Editors
The editors of the journal are responsible for making decisions regarding the publication of submitted materials and for ensuring a fair and transparent peer review process.
Editors are obligated to:
- evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their scholarly merit, relevance, and conformity with the thematic scope of the journal;
- ensure an objective, impartial, and confidential peer review process;
- prevent any form of discrimination on the grounds of gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, nationality, or political beliefs;
- refrain from disclosing information about submitted manuscripts to third parties, with the exception of authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial board;
- take appropriate action upon the identification of breaches of academic integrity, including plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of research findings.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for the content of submitted manuscripts and for the accuracy of the research findings presented therein.
Authors must:
- submit only original scholarly works that have not previously been published and are not under consideration by other publications;
- properly cite all sources consulted;
- ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data presented;
- acknowledge all individuals who have made a substantive contribution to the research as co-authors;
- disclose to the editorial board any conflicts of interest that may influence the research findings or their interpretation;
- in the event that a significant error is identified in a published work, notify the editorial board of the journal without delay.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a pivotal role in ensuring the scholarly quality of publications and in upholding the academic standards of the journal.
Reviewers must:
- provide objective, constructive, and well-reasoned reviews;
- maintain confidentiality with regard to the content of manuscripts;
- notify the editorial board of any potential conflict of interest;
- bring to the attention of the editorial board any suspected instances of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other violations of academic ethics;
- complete the review process within the stipulated timeframe.
Violations of Publication Ethics
In cases where a suspected breach of ethical standards is identified, the editorial board of the journal conducts an appropriate investigation in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
Depending on the outcome of the review, the following measures may be applied:
- rejection of the manuscript;
- publication of a correction;
- retraction of the article;
- notification of the author’s institution or the relevant scholarly organizations.
